Southern New South Wales

The unspoilt natural beauty and simple pleasures of the southern coastline of New South Wales unfold in a series of white sandy bays and tranquil coves. The well protected seas are perfect for diving, fishing and boating; and provide a playground for pods of friendly dolphins and migratory whales. Colourful little townships and fishing villages are renowned for their fresh seafood, superb local cheeses and warm welcomes.

On the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in Southern New South Wales, the Murrumbidgee River flows through fertile farmland producing citrus and stone fruits, wines, wheat, sheep, cattle, pistachio nuts and olives. It weaves its way through proud country towns who’s wide streets provide windows into their pioneering, gold rush, and aboriginal past. These fruitful pastures and their rich heritage have attracted migrants from many nations, creating a surprising and eclectic mix of architecture, cuisines and cultures. Today’s visitors to the region can enjoy pursuits as varied as bushwalking and bird watching, sky diving and trout fishing, hot air ballooning and horseriding, boating and golfing. Historic trains and planes, picnic race meetings and vintage car rallies, growers markets and botanical gardens are all presented with Australia’s unique country hospitality.
