The Luxury Lodge market was further enhanced in late 2007 with the opening of Kauri Cliffs’ sister property, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, amongst the rich vineyards and pasturelands of Hawke’s Bay. Cape Kidnappers, a stand out beacon of land discovered by Captain James Cook in 1769, is now a 6,000 acre sheep farm set on some of the most dramatic coastline to be found in New Zealand.
Cape Kidnappers represents all that is outstanding in the New Zealand Luxury Lodge experience stakes. The Lodge resembles a cluster of farm (ranch) buildings with twenty two cottages plus the ultimate in luxury, the 4 bedroom Owner’s Cottage. All are graciously scaled and full of natural light and unexpected treasures, with breathtaking views as they open to large porches overlooking a stunning Pacific Ocean panorama.
Situated on a par 72 Tom Doak designed links style golf course which has been voted 27th best golf course in the world by Golf Magazine, Cape Kidnappers offers golfers and non golfers alike a luxurious base while exploring the wonders of the Hawke’s Bay wine region. Lodge facilities include two dining rooms and a covered loggia featuring a gourmet a la carte menu with private dining and room service available on request. Other rooms within the Cape Kidnappers Lodge include a lounge/living room, library, intimate sitting room, wine cellar tasting room, and a computer room. Onsite activities include golf, hiking, Gannet safari, farm tour, full service luxury spa, state of the art fitness centre, outdoor 50 foot heated pool, jacuzzi/spa and pool cabana. Area activities include wine tours, fly fishing, hot air ballooning, Art Deco tour, horseback riding and river kayaking.
